The Plant:
Ravintsara is steam distilled from the leaves of the Cinnamomum camphora tree, native to Asia but now widely cultivated in Madagascar where it has developed unique chemical properties distinct from the same species grown elsewhere. It is often confused with ravensara, a completely different plant. Ravintsara is widely considered the more therapeutically versatile of the two. In Madagascar it is known as “the oil that heals” and has been used by the local population for generations for respiratory and immune support.
