About My Animal Matters
My Animal Matters began in 2012 with a rescue dog called Baxter who I adopted from the Dog’s Trust. He came with a history of itchy skin and persistent ear problems and I was looking for a way to support his whole being, rather than just manage the physical symptoms.
The search led me to study with Caroline Ingraham who pioneered ‘applied zoopharmacognosy’, The moment I witnessed a dog innately choosing what their body needed, I knew I had found something that would fundamentally change my relationship with animals and nature.
When our 6-year-old Vizsla suddenly couldn’t be left alone, Rachel’s guidance made ALL the difference. In just two weeks we saw meaningful progress, and our whole family learned so much from the process. Rachel truly is the bridge between our world and theirs.”

Applied Zoopharmacognosy is the practice of offering domesticated animals medicinal plant extracts such as essential oils, hydrosols and herbs, giving them the opportunity to tap into their innate ability to select what they need.
The animal is guides their own dose through inhalation, oral selection or topical application and moves a
way when they have had enough. Plant extracts are never added to food or imposed, the animal must always be free to choose.
My Animal Matters is the shop that grew out of this work. Everything you find here is what I use in practice, sourced with care and chosen with knowledge.
The products
The quality of what you offer your animal companion matters enormously. Every product in this shop has been chosen deliberately, based on years of working with animals and observing what genuinely supports them.
The suppliers I work with have been in the industry for decades. Some grow and distil their own plants, some are led by medical herbalists and some are small family businesses whose entire operation centres on the integrity of what they produce.
What we all share is a commitment to quality that goes far beyond the bottle.
Working together more deeply with me
Over the years I’ve built a community of both Zoopharmacognosy practitioners and dedicated animal guardians who return again and again, not just for the products, but for the ongoing learning. I love hearing from customers as they work together with their animals, sharing what they’ve noticed, asking questions and wishing to refine their approach.
Alongside the shop, I offer 1:1 zoopharmacognosy sessions, a practitioner mentorship and intuitive animal communication offerings. If you’d like to explore working with me directly, whether for your own animal or to develop your practice, you can find full details at rachelknott.com
