Jasmine is a climbing shrub native to the Himalayas and widely cultivated across Egypt, India and the Mediterranean for its extraordinarily fragrant flowers. It is one of the most labour-intensive essential oils to produce, the flowers must be harvested by hand at night, as they secrete their most powerful fragrance just before sunrise.
